Guess where I ate today! Joe’s NY Deli
Who doesn’t like a good sandwich? I happened to be in the mood for one today so we took a ride down Colvin to Joe’s NY Deli. For those of you not familiar with this modern-day delicatessen, Joe’s occupies the former Masterman’s location on the corner of Hertel and Colvin. The menu offers a wide variety of sandwiches, wraps, and salads.
My First Impressions: Cool interior. The mix of old (original wooden door walk-in cooler) and new (stainless industrial style light fixtures) blends very well to create a very welcoming dining room. The menu features such innovative creations like the Lunchbox sandwich which includes bologna, american cheese, crushed fritos, ketchup, and mustard.
The Meal: I chose my usual standby, Jimmy’s Cuban. I’ve had cubans from many places, including authentic hispanic restaurants, and I can easily say that Joe makes the best that I’ve ever had. The ciabotta bread and house honey mustard set this above the rest. My mom opted for the Reuben which comes with a choice of sauerkraut or cole slaw. She also had no complaints about her sandwich, and added that the home made fries were some of the best she’s ever had.
